It’s a Major achievement for Titleist & Footjoy

12.40am 19th July 2004 - Corporate

Both Acushnet brands have achieved 25 years in a row as the most popular choice of the world’s best golfers at The Open Championship

An impressive 69% of the field (107 players) at Royal Troon teed up with either a Pro V1 or Pro VIx compared to just 13% for the nearest competitor, confirming Titleist as the most played ball at The Open Championship.
This is the 25th year in a row that Titleist has been the most played golf ball at the Open. Players putting their trust in the advanced Titleist golf ball technology include Major winners Phil Mickelson, Ernie Els, Retief Goosen, Vijay Singh, Davis Love III and Mike Weir as well as first day leaders Paul Casey and Thomas Levet.
To commemorate the Silver Anniversary, Titleist has produced a very small quantity of limited edition Pro V1’s bearing a ‘25 Years‘ logo and a ‘#1 ball at the Open‘ slogan. Only a few dozen will be released to the general public, but they are also available as competition prizes to eight lucky people on www.europeantour.com
Meanwhile FootJoy, another Acushnet brand, celebrated a quarter of a century as the #1 shoe at The Open with an impressive 96 players (62% of the field) placing their trust in the comfort and performance of FootJoy to negotiate the humps and hollows of Royal Troon.
