Industry experts set up Legacy Golf Advisors

Five golf industry specialists have combined their extensive knowledge and expertise to set up a new golf club consultancy in the UK.

Former golf club managers Stuart Gillett and Chris Lomas, sports marketing entrepreneur Ian Timberlake, golf course management expert Paul Mould, and investment specialist Mike Ramsay have set up Legacy Golf Advisors, with the aim of using their 100-plus years of collective experience to offer a more holistic approach to helping golf clubs and resorts to unlock their business potential. 

The business will offer a range of services from management contracts and club advisory subscriptions, to tailor-made projects across a wide range of golf club operations, including strategy business planning, event management, procurement, sales and marketing, customer experience, retail, course management, people development and membership governance.

Stuart Gillett

Stuart Gillett 
Stuart has firmly established his position as an innovative and dynamic figure within the golf industry.  He has established a reputation for delivering service excellence throughout his career resulting in England Golf’s ‘Most Welcoming Club’ Award in 2018 and a finalist in the GCMA Manager of the Year for 2017. Stuart was general manager at Golf At Goodwood for nine years, and then went to head up European Tour Destinations in 2019, before setting up Legacy Golf in 2020.

Ian Timberlake

Ian Timberlake
Ian has over 25 years’ experience working in the golf industry, and is a specialist sports marketing professional with a proven track record of identifying and delivering client solutions against budgets and targets to achieve excellent customer satisfaction across various spectrums of the golf business. He has earned a reputation for maintaining the highest levels of integrity, confidentiality and discretion and is widely regarded as having the largest network in the business.

Chris Lomas

Chris Lomas
Chris’ first senior position in the golf industry was head greenkeeper of Swinley Forest Golf Club in 1995. More recently he has been CEO/Secretary of Worplesdon Golf Club in Surrey for over 10 years. Prior to that, he was course manager at The Berkshire Golf Club for 11 years. A strong advocate of education, Chris is currently the only person in the industry to hold both Certified Club Manager and Master Greenkeeper qualifications.

Paul Mould

Paul Mould
With over 25 years in the golf industry, initially in the golf course construction sector, Paul founded Material Matters in 2010. It has gone on to be the leading provider of purchasing and contract management in UK golf. In 2017 Accountancy Matters was launched to provide an unrivalled accountancy package for clubs. 

Mike Ramsay

Mike Ramsay
Mike brings over 30 years of experience in finance and investment management leadership to LGA. He moved into banking at Bank of Scotland and RBS having first qualified as a Chartered Accountant. Subsequently, Mike established and led investment businesses at M&G, The Carlyle Group and Generation Investment Management before founding Centennial Investment Management, a boutique sustainability investment and advisory office.
