Golf agency Hiseman Limited is to handle Honma Golf’s UK media representation in 2012.

The agency, which was established in 2002 by former golf magazine publisher Andy Hiseman, also counts SkyCaddie, Sunwise, The Shire London and MySP Golf among its current clients.

The prestigious Japanese brand, which this year celebrates 30 years of craftsmanship at its Sakata plant, will be marketing a wide range of high-technology golf equipment in the UK in 2012, with retailers such as Harrods, Premium Golf, Precision Golf, Golf Principles, Designer Golf, Pure Forged and Tour X Golf stocking the product.

Over the decades – and the brand itself is well over 50 years old – Honma has built a near-legendary reputation for ultimate craftsmanship in club-making, with many Tour stars using their equipment including the 2011 Women’s U.S Open Champion, So Yeon Ryu. However the brand has not been actively marketed in theUKfor several years.

“The Honma brand is revered throughout the world of golf,” said Andy Hiseman. “It is definitely a brand for the connoisseur of the very best in golf, although its equipment is surprisingly within reach of the typical golfer’s budget. Their clubheads and shafts have long set a benchmark for build quality and performance, and we are thoroughly looking forward to helping to tell the Honma Golf story this year.”

Honma golf equipment is famously graded using a Star system: most golfers plump for the more affordable 2-Star and 3-Star specifications, with the brand’s 5 Star specification clubs generally sold to a select clientele including film stars and tycoons.
