Hi-Tec celebrates 30th anniversary

12.30am 6th May 2004 - Corporate

The legendary British sports shoe brand looks back at a rich history that began in May, 1974 in the small town of Shoeburyness, Essex. Frustrated by his inability to find a good squash shoe, entrepreneur Dutchman, Frank van Wezel decided to develop a lightweight, highly technical and exceedingly comfortable one of his own.
Thirty years on and having sold over 250 million pairs of sport, outdoor and tactical footwear, Hi-Tec is now the 14th largest sports footwear company in the world.
Hi-Tec is active in more than 90 countries worldwide with over 500 styles being commercialised under the core product categories of Outdoor, Court, Golf, Heritage, Athletic and the leading uniform, tactical footwear brand MAGNUM.
Hi-Tec branded products are worn by some of the world’s top sportsmen and women including international golfers Padraig Harington and Ian Woosnam.
For 30 years Hi-Tec has built a sporting heritage on its passion to deliver instantly comfortable, lightweight and attractively designed shoes at true value. With the foundations that already exist, Hi-Tec has no doubt found a winning formula. The company now employs over 500 staff and enjoys global revenues of more than US$170 million.
