Leading golf apparel brand Galvin Green is celebrating the 15th anniversary of its pioneering Multi-Layer Concept this month, having introduced mid-layer INSULA™ pullovers and body warmers in 2004 to provide serious golfers with exceptional warming comfort and thermal regulation.

The premium performance brand developed the INSULA™ fabric with built-in air chambers to produce a compatible warm layer worn under its famous GORE-TEX waterproof jackets. Since then, the excellent thermal insulation qualities of these highly breathable, technical garments have become a symbol of how layering correctly can help golfers play more rounds in greater comfort.

“Galvin Green’s INSULA™ range has been a hit as a layering garment at Stoke Park ever since its launch,” said Tim Harris, Retail Manager and Head Assistant PGA Professional at the prestigious Stoke Park golf course in Buckinghamshire.

“Members of our golf team are extremely passionate about this product, because they know how effective the technology is from personal experience. This makes INSULA™ the ‘go to’ solution we show to customers looking for a lightweight, insulating piece at a competitive price point. More recently, our crested INSULA™ range has taken on a new role in the Pro Shop, as one of the most popular replacements in the evolution of the traditional club sweater,” adds Tim.

The latest INSULA™ range features seven different styles of jackets, pullovers,  body warmers and hoodies, including the striking half-zip DWIGHT and DRAKE pullovers.

Shell layer

The flagship Shell outer layer in the latest range is the ultra-lightweight SHAKEDRY™ waterproof GORE-TEX jacket, which has proved a popular addition at retail outlets accustomed to selling rain wear in large quantities – like Auchterlonies of St Andrews.

According to owner Bobby Millar, the SHAKEDRY™ jacket has made a real difference to his business this season, especially as it features prominently in an exclusive window display close to the Old Course. “The new SHAKEDRY™ display is a real showstopper and has not only helped boost sales of this amazing waterproof jacket, but other garments in the latest Galvin Green range.

“We’re delighted with the way it’s turned out and the positive comments we’ve received from customers – especially during the recent Alfred Dunhill Links Championship, when the weather at St Andrews proved ideal for wearing the best rain jacket on the market,” added Bobby.

Cool Layer

Another key element of the successful Galvin Green Multi-Layer Concept is the cool layer, featuring the highly breathable VENTIL8™ fabric – first introduced to the brand’s shirts and trousers, plus shorts and skorts in 2010.

Rob Grier at the Stone Driving Range in Staffordshire is among those who has seen a significant uplift in sales of Galvin shirts this year. “I’ve been very happy with the level of shirt sales from the latest VENTIL8™ PLUS range, especially those with distinctive patterns, like the MIGUEL.

“These shirts offer something different in terms of performance quality and breathability, as well as giving us a healthy margin on sales,” said Rob.
