Foxhills invests further in course maintenance

9.00am 4th August 2004 - Corporate

Foxhills, the leading Surrey resort, continues to invest in the condition of its golf courses. A £1.2 million drainage and irrigation programme has now been followed up with the purchase of high quality Toro course maintenance machinery worth £350,000.
The owners of the leading Surrey resort know they have to keep their two 18-hole and one 9-hole courses in excellent condition if they are to expand their successful business. The complete order, likely to be Toro’s biggest of the year, consists of one Toro Greensmaster 3250-D ride-on greens mower, two Toro Reelmaster 5500-D ride-on fairway mowers, two Toro Groundsmaster 3500-D ride-on 3-unit rotary mowers, two Toro Groundsmaster 4500-D ride-on 5-unit rotary mowers, one Toro workman 3300-D workman complete with spraying system, three Toro workman 2110 utility vehicles, one Toro tractor-mounted debris blower, one Kioti DK50 compact tractor, one Charterhouse Rink 1205 top dresser, one Greentek maintenance system and two Greentek True-Surface rollers.
“This is a major investment but is absolutely necessary if we are to maintain our courses in the condition our members and visitors have come to expect,” said Marc Hayton, Director at Foxhills.
“Golf is an extremely competitive business and we have to keep investing in the courses if we are to maintain our advantage over our leading rivals. We have had a record start to 2004 and we are determined to continually improve the product that we offer.”
“We are delighted to have won such a substantial contract and feel sure the machinery will enable staff to safeguard Foxhills‘ reputation for excellence,” said Steve Vogel, the sales and marketing director at John Shaw (Machinery) Ltd, distributors for Toro.
Foxhills, which has two Championship courses, the Longcross and the Bernard Hunt, plus a third 9-hole Academy course, is set in 400 acres of tranquil Surrey parkland close to the town of Ottershaw. It is about 10 minutes drive from Junction 12 of the M25, one hour from central London, 45 minutes from Gatwick and 20 minutes from Heathrow.
