When the 60-bay, state-of-the-art Greenwich Peninsula Driving Range opened earlier this month Foresight Sports technology was the top choice for the A1 Golf store to use for its club fittings.
Occupying 300 yards of Thames waterfront land, adjacent to the O₂ and with views to Canary Wharf and beyond – and just five minutes from North Greenwich Underground station on the Jubilee Line – the Greenwich Peninsula Driving Range is a joint venture between Knight Dragon Developments and N1Golf, and has been hailed as ‘the biggest thing to happen in golf in London for 30 years’.
And Foresight Sports Game Changer 2 (GC2) and Head Measurement Technology (HMT) has been installed to enable Ivan Norman and his team of golf professionals to carry out club fittings using the most accurate data available in the golf industry.
Norman explained: “We were first attracted to the GC2 after receiving some very good feedback from suppliers, golf professionals and fellow retailers.
“After visiting Foresight’s showroom and experiencing the system myself, I had no doubt that the GC2 launch monitor, coupled with the HMT camera, provides the very best data and information available to ensure we can offer our customers a first-class custom-fit service.
“Most golfers looking for new equipment now expect to be offered some form of custom-fitting, and being able to offer a comprehensive service – from what is rapidly becoming the most respected and used system, by the majority of major manufacturers and many tour professionals – will definitely enhance the experience for our customers.
“With online sales increasing significantly, providing a professional custom-fit service from trained expert friendly staff, using the latest technology, will provide a huge difference compared to online retailers and should have a substantial impact on our sales.”
The GC2 directly measures all essential ball data at launch using ultra-high-speed cameras, while HMT directly measures all critical club data independently, to provide the most-trusted and accurate data in the industry for every club, every shot, every player and every swing.
Foresight’s technology images the exact movement of the dimple patterns on the golf ball, to ensure pure, reliable data, making it the only technology suitable for all seasons and conditions – whether indoors or on the range – and produces data for every club, every shot, every player and every swing, all to the highest accuracy levels in the industry.
Since its launch five years ago, Foresight Sports technology has revolutionised club fitting and analysis. Having been swiftly approved and recommended by many of the world’s leading club manufacturers – including Titleist, Cleveland/Srixon, Cobra/Puma, PING and TaylorMade and dozens of other leading brands – it’s since been adopted by many of the world’s top players and coaches, such as Butch Harmon, while leading golf retailers, including American Golf in the UK, have installed GC2 in many stores.
Indeed, Harmon, who is installing Foresight Sports technology in all of his academies, was unabashed in his admiration, stating “there’s nothing that can compare with the GC2; it’s far and away the best we’ve ever used”.
In the UK, the last three Foremost Golf ‘professional of the year’ award winners have each credited Foresight Sports’ GC2 for revolutionising their business, while it is GC2 technology which drives the much-lauded Sky Sports Shot Centre on the broadcaster’s weekly PGA Tour coverage.
Ed Doling, sales director for Foresight Sports Europe, the exclusive distributor for the UK, Europe, Middle East and Africa, said: “We’re delighted to have been selected by the Greenwich Peninsula Driving Range and A1 Golf store as the technology of choice for their coaching, analysis, and custom-fitting requirements. Golfers can be assured they will benefit from the best possible data during their coaching and fitting sessions.
“It’s interesting to note that golf remains one of the last industries to still be using radar-based systems to try to analyse ball and club performance. It’s good to see that the move to camera-based analysis is accelerating all the time and that the use of GC2 and HMT technology is becoming the industry norm.
“We believe it is vital that, if the game of golf wishes to grow, improve playing standards, and retain more players for longer, the data the industry relies on must be accurate and trustworthy. And, to achieve that, the golf industry needs to make the change to camera-based analysis. It’s great to see that Greenwich Peninsula and the A1 Golf store, along with thousands of other fitters, professionals and retailers around the world, are doing just that.”
