Foremost Golf, Europe’s leading buying and marketing group, has launched the Foremost Golf Professionals Championship, which will be held at South Staffordshire Golf Club on 16 May 2011.

The inaugural 18-hole stroke play event, designed to bring their professionals together in a competitive environment, will have a prize fund of £5,500, with eight sought-after Ashworth Cup spots available.

The Ashworth Cup is an exciting annual ‘Ryder Cup style’ event, with 12 players eventually representing the Foremost buying group at The Grove in Hertfordshire this year.

Foremost CEO Paul Hedges said: “This is a wonderful opportunity to bring 144 of our dedicated professionals together in a competitive environment. I’m sure they will relish the opportunity to play as we have some terrific prizes on offer.

“The Ashworth Cup places are a real incentive for our pros to register for this event. The competition is intense and the rivalry is always well mannered and great fun.”

Echoing Paul’s thoughts, former Ryder Cup player and current Foremost Golf Professional Peter Baker, said: “The Foremost Golf Professional Championship is sure to be an absolutely terrific event, which I’m thoroughly looking forward to.

“South Staffordshire Golf Club is a great venue, and players will take pleasure in competing for an Ashworth Cup spot as well as a healthy prize-fund.”
