FootJoy continued to dominate one of the strongest fields in golf when it won the shoe count at the Open Championship at St.Andrews. It is the 21st consecutive year that FootJoy has been the No. 1 shoe at the world’s oldest professional championship.
This year 105 golfers in the 156 – man field chose to wear FootJoy shoes according to the official survey done by Sports Marketing Surveys Ltd. This represents 6 times more than FootJoy’s nearest competitor who had 16 players wearing their shoes
FootJoy and Titleist also held a commanding lead in the glove count at The Open. The official survey showed that 84 golfers used a FootJoy or Titleist glove compared to its nearest competitor with 16.
The results of these two counts mirror those done at the 2000 Amateur Championship and the 2000 UK Club Professional’s Championship where FootJoy was also No. 1 in shoe and glove usage.
In the former, 73.6% of competitors used FootJoy shoes and 45.6% used FootJoy gloves. The results were even more emphatic at the Club Pro’s Championship where a massive 83.7% of the club pros were wearing FootJoy shoes and 51.6% wore a FootJoy glove.
