Els backing Woodworm’s new brand

7.30am 25th April 2006 - Corporate

The British cricket bat manufacturer, Woodworm, and International Sports Management Limited have announced a 5-year clothing deal with three-time major winner Ernie Els. Els will spearhead Woodworm’s entrance into the golf apparel market in a deal which will see the South African sport the Woodworm logo across a range of clothing.
“I‘m delighted to have signed for Woodworm,” said Els. “Through my interest in cricket, I have seen Woodworm burst onto the scene with guys like Freddie Flintoff and Kevin Pietersen. In no time, Woodworm has become a household brand in cricket. The challenge is to achieve similar success in the golf clothing market and I am hugely looking forward to my partnership with Woodworm.”
Joe Sillett, founder and chief executive of Woodworm is equally excited by the deal, “Ernie is the perfect brand ambassador for Woodworm. Like Ernie, Woodworm aspires to be the best, whilst placing equal focus on enjoyment and fun. This synergy alongside Ernie’s character and global reach will open Woodworm up to a new audience. The Woodworm brand has endeared itself to a lot of people in our four year history to date and our partnership with Ernie will take Woodworm on to greater heights.”
