E-Z-GO at The Wynyard

8.00am 22nd February 2006 - Corporate

The Wynyard Golf Club, located in 250 acres of parkland at Billingham on the outskirts of Stockton-on-Tees, has taken delivery of a fleet of 20 E-Z-GO electric golf cars from local dealer Rickerby Ltd.
This new fleet is now available for use by members, visitors and the ever increasing number of societies using the superb 7,063 yard par 72 course, which was the venue of the recent Seve Trophy. The buggies are unique in that each one is fitted with onboard chargers, exclusive to E-Z-GO, and they also feature a single point battery filling system which makes regular maintenance an easy and simple task.
Commenting at the handover Paul Millard, course manager said, “Our aim here at The Wynyard is to provide the ultimate golfing experience for everyone who plays here. We have a buggy track around the entire course, which provides easy access to all areas enabling player of all ages to enjoy a memorable visit.
“We specified the cars in our corporate livery of gun metal grey with club crest emblazoned on the front cowling. The cars are positioned at the entrance to the clubhouse and certainly help enhance the profile of The Wynyard to all visitors. They are used extensively, especially on corporate days, and add significant value to our bottom line.”
The Wynyard selected electric golf cars for a number of reasons and designed the greenkeeping facilities to include designated, fully ventilated charging bays. Low noise was a priority as the course is located in a residential area and there are plans for more houses close to some of the fairways. Minimal servicing was another factor and there are none of the health and safety issues associated with the storage of petrol. Maintenance is simple and, apart from checking battery levels, it is just a case of plugging in to a standard 3 amp plug socket to initiate the overnight charging procedure.
The club has also purchased three E-Z-GO MPT 1000 utility vehicles, again with onboard chargers, for use by the greenkeeping team.
Paul Millard added, “We demand high quality standards in all areas of our business and expect that from our business partners. We have a long association with Rickerby’s and their back up and service is first class; they are a solutions provider; they provide peace of mind and I don’t believe we’ve ever had a warranty issue. Their support for the Seve Trophy was superb. Everything we requested from Rickerby’s and Ransomes Jacobsen we received.” www.wynyardgolfclub.co.uk
