Club Car, recognised industry leaders in golf car and utility vehicle design, has announced the launch of a new heavy duty IQ system, IQ Plus, which has taken the company’s electric vehicles’ performance capabilities to the next level.
The IQ Plus system, which has been implemented on all of Club Car’s electric Carryall, Turf and Villager models, further enhances the performance characteristics of these market-leading vehicles. Power has been increased, running costs reduced, range lengthened and environmental impact reduced. Impressively IQ Plus even allows users to improve on the standard performance by customising their own model to be fit for purpose.
Electric vehicles are more cost effective to run than a petrol equivalent, but with IQ Plus the savings are significant. Average annual fuel costs can be reduced by more than 50% when compared to a petrol model without compromising on performance. The IQ Plus configuration delivers 21 peak horsepower, which enables IQ Plus equipped vehicles to produce as much pulling torque as petrol vehicles. In tests using the Club Car Carryall 2 with IQ Plus the vehicle reached a 17mph top speed.
Other improvements with the IQ Plus system include the increased range, battery power and duration. A company spokesman explained that the IQ Plus high-output charger, controller, on-board computer and eight volt battery system charges faster than other systems, so it can run up to 80 miles on a single charge as well as providing superior power. This configuration also means that the vehicle can achieve enviable hill climbing feats out-climbing all competitors over 10%, 20% and 30% gradients.
IQ Plus also allows users to have more control than ever before. IQ Plus programmability allows the user to customise speed, acceleration and motor braking to ensure optimal performance. Automated diagnostics make it easy to monitor vehicle performance and pinpoint any problem areas. IQ Plus also comes with an optional SmartKey system that allows the user to change performance settings without the need for any additional tools, making it the ultimate user friendly vehicle.
The familiar characteristics of Club Car design, such as the aluminium chassis, independent front suspension and four wheel breaking on vehicles over 362 KG capacity are still apparent making them ideal units to run on hard surfaces and roadways. Club Car’s four wheel breaking system will stop the vehicle safely without skidding, which is unique to vehicles in this class and increases safety.
With zero emissions, Club Car electric vehicles offer a quieter, cleaner alternative to petrol without sacrificing performance.
