Scotland-based Glenmuir, Europe’s leading golf apparel brand, has appointed Brisson Sports Marketing (BSM) as distributor for the Canadian market.
With continued strong European sales, the Lanark Company has been focusing recently on establishing further international distribution. With an estimated 6 million golfers and some of the world’s highest golf participation rates, Canada was identified as a key market.
Announcing the appointment of Brisson Sports Marketing, Glenmuir managing director Colin Mee, said: “The golf market in Canada generates an estimated $13.6 billion annually, so it’s an opportunity for Glenmuir to secure a significant brand presence.
“BSM have excellent contacts within the golfing community in Canada, along with established distribution channels for their other leading golf products, so we are naturally delighted to be working with them.”
Brisson Sports Marketing was founded by David Brisson as a marketing company initially working with the biggest brands in golf and golf events – from one-day corporate events to PGA Tour events.
The company moved into the distribution side of the golf industry in 2008 and currently works with Club Glove, the number one travel gear in golf, Legendary Headwear, the number one hat manufacturer on the PGA Tour and Stretch Towel.
David Brisson has more than 10 years of golf business and sports marketing expertise, having developed a North American representative network to market brands coming into the sports market. Lastly he has worked with the NFLPA and CFLPA as an agent and as a CPGA Professional at some of Canada’s most prestigious private golf clubs, most notably Magna Golf Club.
Said David: “We have a proven track record in growing all brands organically in Canada in retail and green grass and we’re delighted to have Glenmuir on board alongside the established brands we already work with. Glenmuir fits our philosophy of selling only the best.”
Glenmuir is a preferred supplier to The European Ryder Cup Team, will be lead vendor in the Ryder Cup Merchandise Pavilion at this year’s Ryder Cup in Wales, and is exclusive licensee of Open Championship official merchandise.
