With a trip for 2 to the Bahamas plus a round with a TaylorMade Tour player on the line, the American Golf 9 Hole Championship is proving to be a hit with the nation’s golfers.
American Golf – in association with TaylorMade – is reporting an impressive uptake of places at its inaugural 9 Hole Championship.
With a focus on removing some of the barriers to playing more golf, the England Golf endorsed 9 Hole Championship sees 10 qualifying events take place over 10 regions. With half of the qualifiers now complete, American Golf has been delighted at the uptake and the feedback from competitors.
Daniel Gathercole, Head of Marketing at American Golf commented, “The 9 Hole Championship is all about getting more people out playing more golf. The events have been great fun and we’ve had lots of positive comments about how great it is to play in a proper competition after work. Lots of people just don’t have the time to play mid-week and this format gets them out on the course.”
The format is pairs, better ball Stableford off ¾ handicap, with a shotgun start at 5.30 or 6.00 pm. Anyone can enter the competition but to stand a chance of winning prizes and progressing through to the final, golfers must have an official England Golf Handicap.
The two winning pairs and runners up from each region will win fantastic prizes from TaylorMade, while the winning pairs also make their way to the Grand Final at The Belfry in October. Once there each team will be competing for the once in a lifetime prize of a trip to the Bahamas for 2 people plus a round with a TaylorMade Tour player.
Anyone wishing to enter can apply online at www.americangolf.co.uk/events Rather than pay an entry fee, they will be asked to make a £10 donation per pair to The Golf Foundation via a dedicated Just Giving page, a donation that will help bring the next generation of golfers into the game.
Simon Gilbert, Regional Marketing Manager at TaylorMade Golf, commented, “We’re delighted to be working with American Golf on the 9 Hole Championship. American Golf is trying something genuinely exciting to drive golf participation so we’ve come up with one of the most exciting prizes we could think of for the winners!”
Venues for the remaining regional qualifiers are:
- Woodhall Spa – 11th August
- High Legh Park Golf Club – 12th August
- Farleigh Golf Club – 20th August
- Hunley Hotel & Golf Club – 27th August
Grand Final:
