15 Years and Counting as The #1 Ball in Golf for Titleist Pro V1 & Pro V1x

2015 Pro V1 & Pro V1x golf ballsIt has been 15 years since the Pro V1 was first launched on the global stage at the PGA Tour’s Invensys Classic in Las Vegas. No less than 47 players chose to put the original Pro V1 prototype in to play at this event, including the eventual Champion, Billy Andrade, who chalked up the first of many wins for the legendary franchise.

Fifteen years on, and with fifteen consecutive years as the #1 ball in golf, the eighth generation of the Pro V1 was used to winning effect by Billy Andrade to claim victory at the Boeing Classic on the Champions Tour, underlining Titleist’s continued commitment to improving the performance of its products to offer the best performing ball for every player’s game.

From the world’s best players, right through to Club Professionals and leading amateurs, the Pro V1 and Pro V1x golf balls continue to be the most played golf balls at every level of the game. The 2015 season has been no different, with Titleist golf balls once again completing a grand slam, as the #1 ball at each of this year’s Major Championships, continuing some of the game’s longest-running success stories.

This was most evident at the U.S. Open, where Titleist continued as the overwhelming golf ball of choice for the field for the 67th consecutive year. It was a similar story at St Andrews this year, where Titleist continued as the #1 ball at The Open Championship since records began.

So far in 2015, the trust displayed in Titleist golf balls across worldwide professional tours has been unrivalled, with a current worldwide count of 15,987 players choosing to tee it up with a Pro V1 or Pro V1x, almost six times the nearest competitor with 2,682*. This has also translated into an overwhelming number of wins for players trusting Titleist golf balls across the world. With 106 victories, Titleist has almost five times more wins than its nearest competitor.

This unrivalled trust is clearly is replicated by leading club professionals across the globe and was clearly highlighted at this year’s Titleist & FootJoy PGA Professionals Championship, where the legendary Pro V1 franchise dominated the golf ball counts, being trusted by 112 of the 144 players at the event, eight times that of the nearest competitor with 14.

This trust in the total performance of Titleist golf balls continues through the ranks, into the leading Amateur events across the world. The 2015 U.S. Amateur Championship saw 234 players put their trust in a Titleist golf ball, more than five times the nearest competitor with 40, and three times all of its competitors combined. Over on this side of the Atlantic, the counts were equally impressive at The British Amateur Championship, with 215 of the 288-player field choosing to tee it up with a Pro V1 or Pro V1x, almost five times the nearest competitor with 44.

The British Boys Championship further underlined the trust performance excellence of Titleist, with 218 out of this year’s 252-player field relying on a Titleist golf ball, nearly eleven times the nearest competitor with 20.

These impressive counts across all levels of the game, continue to highlight the overwhelming trust that golfers have in the performance, control and consistency of Titleist golf balls. Fifteen years on from the launch of the original Pro V1 golf balls, the legendary franchise continues to set the standard as the undoubted #1 ball in golf.
