The English Golf Union (EGU) received the EGCOA Award 2009 during European Golf Business Conference 2009. The conference organized by European Golf Course Owners Association (EGCOA) continued under “The Next Step” theme, aiming to reveal all the future opportunities for the European golf industry.
This year the award was given to The English Golf Union for its important contribution to the English golf business and the stream of knowledge and development that EGU brings constantly among the owners and operators in England.
The EGCOA Award is given to organizations or individuals who made an important contribution to develop the golf business. Among the initiatives executed by the EGU during 2008 were a number of golf club marketing workshops and the “EGU at the Heart of Golf Conferences”.
During 2009 the EGU has continued with 10 advanced golf marketing workshops and launched the EGU Golf Central ‘One Golf Network’ club-marketing portal which gives golf clubs a route to access the mass online golfer through a central pool of their data thus helping them to significantly improve their marketing and reach a larger audience.
The annual EGCOA Award to The English Golf Union was presented to David Croxton, board member of the EGU, and Paul Keeling, responsible for club services at the EGU, by the president of the EGCOA Marcel Welling. The award ceremony was held on Thursday during the Dinner Event of the European Golf Business Conference and took place on the ‘Prins van Oranje’ sailing in Amsterdam harbour.
The 2009 European Golf Business Conference was held at the Renaissance Hotel in Amsterdam, from 2-4 December 2009.
Previous winners of the EGCOA Award are Ken Schofield (2008); Golf Environment Organization (2007) and Mike Hughes NGCOA (2006)
