Albert Sinfield first held a golf club when he was aged five – now he holds the position of Director of Golf at Tudor Park Marriott Hotel & Country Club in Bearsted, Kent.
At the age of 25, he is the youngest person within the Marriot UK group to take up a post of this level, but has already made his mark, recently as Golf Operations Manager at Tudor Park’s sister hotel, the 5-star Hanbury Manor.
Albert joins Tudor Park at the height of its summer season. It recently hosted the regional Trilby Tour competition, which will be televised in the autumn, and on July 26, it will be the setting for some friendly but fierce competition between ex-professional footballers and amateur golfers in the third Mancini Trophy.
Later in the year, on September 29, current Euro Tour Pro, and local golf hero, Matt Ford and English Professional golfer Paul Broadhurst will be guests of honour and speakers at a gala dinner to coincide with the Ryder Cup. The next day, September 30, they will both play in Tudor Park’s Pro-Am event.
“This is a very exciting time to be joining Tudor Park and I feel privileged to be here and be able to have a career in the sport I love,” says Albert. “I am addicted to golf. It can be whatever you want it to be – peaceful, social or competitive – and I hope that I will be able to pass on my passion for the game to current members and new ones.”
Albert hails from Hertfordshire and began his golfing career back in 2006, when he worked as a golf shop assistant at Chesfield Downs Golf Club before moving to Brocket Hall in 2008 as a Senior Sales Assistant. Albert then joined the team at Hanbury Manor as a Golf Services Assistant in June 2011 before becoming Golf Supervisor and then Operations Manager.
A keen sportsman, Albert’s other passion is Karate a discipline in which he holds a Black Belt.
The golf club, with its 18 hole course designed by Donald Steel, is part of the four-star Tudor Park Hotel and Country Club which also has leisure facilities including a gym, swimming pool, steam room and sauna, plus conference facilities including 11 meeting rooms.
Tudor Park is looking for teams of three to take part in its Mancini Trophy on July 26. It’s an opportunity to pick up golfing tips and a few ‘selfies’ with some of the footballing greats. Last year, footballing legend Sir Trevor Brooking was among the 21 ex-professionals who teamed up with amateur golfers for the competition which is always followed by a barbecue and an awards ceremony.
