National Alliance for Accessible Golf (Alliance) has announced its plans for involvement in the Golf Industry Show at the San Diego Convention Center in San Diego, CA, February 10-11, 2016. Executive Director Steve Jubb, PGA, will be representing the Alliance and sharing information with the greater golf industry.
Prior to the start of the Golf Industry Show, the Alliance will be involved in the 2016 Golf Business Expo presented by the National Golf Course Owners Association (NGCOA) at the Omni Hotel and will be conducting a demonstration of adaptive golf instruction at Maderas Golf Club during the event’s Day at the Course on February 9. PGA Professional/Therapist and Alliance Advisory Committee member, John Klein will lead the demonstration and be accompanied by several of his students.
“We are excited to have the opportunity to share our resources with the professionals in the industry. We launched our Accessible Golf Facility database in 2015, and want to engage with more golf course owners, operators, superintendents, owners, and professionals and their facilities in 2016,” shares Steve Jubb, PGA.
The mission of the Alliance is to increase participation of people with disabilities in the game of golf. Through golf, individuals with disabilities become actively engaged in the social fabric of a community, and derive health benefits that improve quality of life. Information about the benefits of golf for persons with disabilities and the golf industry must be constantly shared with the media, public, health, rehabilitation and recreation and golf professionals.
Since 2010, the Alliance it has granted more than $722,000 to inclusive golf programs for people with disabilities. Through on-going support from the United States Golf Association, the Alliance has expanded its efforts to provide financial assistance and resources to help make the game of golf more accessible to people with disabilities.
Interested individuals should visit Booth #5624 at the Golf Industry Show and connect with Executive Director Steve Jubb, PGA, for more information on opportunities and resources offered by the Alliance.
