Popular award-winning BBC sports presenter Dan Walker will be the compere once again when the sixth annual 59club service excellence awards take place next month at Forest of Arden Marriott Hotel & Country Club, Warwickshire.
Regarded by many as the ‘Oscars’ of the golf service industry, the awards’ evening – on Monday, 29th February – is the culmination of a day of seminars open to all golf/leisure staff and club managers, on the theme of ‘membership sales and retention’ to include world renowned speaker, Gregg Patterson. The awards are designed to recognise excellence within the golf industry throughout 2015 and the evening will also see the presentation of 59club’s coveted gold and silver flag designations.
Awards up for grabs include the ultimate golf experience; golf group of the year; golf operations team of the year; sales team of the year; and best retail experience, plus a number of individual accolades.
Not every venue will win a major award, but 59club will be recognising the efforts that are being made by all clubs by presenting the ‘Striving for Excellence’ award to every venue that attends the ceremony.
The 59club awards’ evening – sponsored and partnered by England Golf, the PGA, World of Leading Golf, Club Car, Golfbreaks.com, Tacit Golf, golftell, Fluid Productions, Kennet Equipment Leasing, CGI Insurance, Pro Shop Europe, GMé, and Golf Retailing – is now an important event in the golf industry calendar, and its awards are all highly prized.
Previous 59club award winners include the Belfry; Celtic Manor; Marriott; Dubai Golf; Broadstone; Stoke Park; Woldingham; Spey Valley; Close House; and Goodwood, among many others.
Simon Wordsworth, chief executive at 59club and a fellow of the PGA, explained: “We are delighted Dan Walker is, once again, able to join us in celebrating the very best in the golf industry and reward and recognise the outstanding achievers.
“We also take the opportunity to bring the industry together, to run an extensive day of seminars, this year aimed at the growing need to increase membership sales and member retention across the UK and Europe, along with a leadership seminar specifically aimed at directors of golf, general managers, owners and other golf industry members who lead teams within their venues.”
59club is fast becoming the industry standard for measuring and comparing customer-service levels and analysing all key revenue streams for golf venues, and is committed to the on-going development of club managers and PGA professionals.
