More than 260 course superintendents from almost 20 countries attended the third edition of the Asian Golf Industry Federation’s (AGIF) 2015 Turfgrass Management Exposition at Laem Chabang International Country Club.

The Expo was part of a three-day gathering in the Central Thai beach resort that also included the 7th Asian Turfgrass Field Day and a high-profile conference on Sustainable Turfgrass Management in Asia.

The conference was organised by the Thai Golf Course Superintendents’

Association (TGCSA), the Thailand Golf Association and the Asian Turfgrass Centre, with support from The R&A.

Working together with the TGCSA, the AGIF Turfgrass Management Exposition featured an array of equipment from 30-plus exhibitors as well as extensive product demonstrations.

Steve Wilson, a member of the AGIF’s Education Committee, said: “From the overwhelmingly positive feedback we’ve received, it’s clear that the appetite for gatherings such as this around the region is growing.

“Once more we congratulate the TGCSA on their positive initiatives and thank them for their whole-hearted efforts to raise standards.

“At the AGIF we see our role as providing support and organising part of the meeting, allowing practical training on the golf course. We are delighted to be supporting education programmes such as this and will shortly be confirming two further events for the second quarter.”

A spokesperson for the TCGSA said: “For course superintendents, this is an important educational seminar and we are very happy with how it has been conducted and the quality of its staging.”

Dominic Wall, Director Asia-Pacific for The R&A, said: “With the support of the Thailand Golf Course Superintendents Association and the Thailand Golf Association this gathering has again been a great success. We are very happy to see it go from strength to strength.

“We are glad in particular to see so many golf course superintendents from around Asia come together in Thailand to learn about the latest tools and techniques for sustainable golf course and turfgrass management.

“It’s important to have practical sessions such as the Expo so that the superintendents can see how to apply what they hear at the conference.

“It’s good also to have the Asian Golf Industry Federation involved and for them to provide a showcase for their members to display and demonstrate their products.”

The Exposition is an AGIF event that enables Federation members to have direct and uninterrupted interaction with golf course superintendents and club managers from Thailand and around the region.
