An extensive Ryder Cup knowledge sharing exercise between Scotland and France was formally recognised on Friday as Scotland began the process of handing over to the next European hosts of the event in 2018.
First Minister Alex Salmond MSP and Shona Robison, Cabinet Secretary for Commonwealth Games and Sport, met with French Secretary of State for Sport Thierry Braillard alongside George O’Grady, Chief Executive of the European Tour; Jean Lou Charon of the French Golf Federation; and Patrick Elsmie, Managing Director of The Gleneagles Hotel.
Mr. O’Grady and the First Minister presented Mr Braillard with an official gift on behalf of The 2014 Ryder Cup’s collective stakeholders. The gift was an original painting of the PGA Centenary Course at Gleneagles by local official artist Graeme W. Baxter, which had previously been on public exhibition in the Scottish Parliament.
