Troon® continues to demonstrate its market-leading expertise following the announcement it has been retained at Château d’Augerville. Troon’s first-ever French property, located in the spectacular Augerville-la-Rivière region just one hour south of the French Capital, Paris, will add an all-new option to the industry-leaders international division as it develops an unparalleled golf experience in France.

The journey from Malesherbes to Augerville-la-Rivière is scattered with charming villages that typify the French region, arriving at a magnificent walled and moat-guarded avenue in the approach to the 15th century Château d’Augerville. Set against woodland and wheat fields, the 4 star historic hotel is situated within a 110 hectare estate which was transformed in the 1990’s to include the superb 18-hole golf course. Designed by architect Olivier Dongradi, the expert design utilises the rolling landscape to offer a golfing challenge for golfers of all abilities with strategically positioned, picturesque ponds and a selection of elevated tees amongst the rock outcroppings familiar in the Fontainebleau area. The exclusive property, which is upgrading to include an extensive array of luxurious amenities – including a specialised beef culinary school and spa, is set to become one of France’s most sought after golf and leisure experiences in the run up to the Ryder Cup in 2018.

“Château d’Augerville is quite simply, a stunning property; we were taken aback with the awe-inspiring beauty and quickly saw that Troon has all the fundamentals to develop the course and its visitor experience to an all-new level,” commented Bruce Glasco, Senior Vice-President and Managing Director, Troon International Operations. “For this to be our first property in France is also extremely gratifying, owners across the world are continually experiencing our different venues and enjoying the levels of service and course conditioning we achieve. We are experiencing continued success with owners who are choosing Troon to manage and realise the potential their own venues have; we are excited for the coming years at Chateau d’Augerville with the development of the course, along with its luxurious collection of leisure and hospitality amenities, to create something special for golfers looking at fresh international options.”

Château d’Augerville features 40 bedrooms including eight suites within the Chateau and its two 17th century historical annexes, combining luxury, tradition and French charm. Gastronomy is a common-theme throughout, with guests able to take their own culinary courses or eat in the prestigious residence’s restaurant in honour of its original owner. In addition, the superb Bistro du Château includes terraces with views overlooking the golf course and the Chateau’s very own confectioner, Les Douceurs d’Augerville offers a large selection of handmade chocolate.

“We were quick to see what industry-leading knowledge and guidance Troon could offer us in the development of the golf at Chateau d’Augerville; with their unparalleled insight in to each facet of the golf business, it was the pertinent choice.” commented Lucie Leguille Mahon, Golf Director. “We are looking forward to the progression of the facility, with Troon installing best practices and leading procedures for a sustainable development and expect to be welcoming golfers from across the globe to experience the best of what French golf has to offer.”

Chosen by yet another leading management group, the decision to employ Troon at Château d’Augerville once again reiterates its market-leader status and the confidence owners place in the unerring quality with unsurpassed levels of service and hospitality it offers in the creation of the world’s most desirable resorts.
