The master plan for Emaar, the developer, included the location and footprints of the clubhouse, real estate and hotel and an 18 hole tournament course on an unusual site. Cosntruction was delayed due to a lack of irrigation water and problems over land ownership but eventually commenced in Autumn 2005.
