Swan Golf Designs is offering a two-day course ‘Renovating your golf course’ as part of the Continue to Learn programme at BTME in Harrogate. It will last for two days (on Sunday 19th and Monday 20th January) and is restricted to 16 delegates as the workshop includes drawing and modelling work.
Howard Swan told GBN.com, “This is an in-depth and interactive workshop looking to see how redesigning the layout and detailed structure can improve a course and make it more maintainable, efficiently and economically. A panel of golf course managers (one of whom will be Kenny Mackay of Wentworth) will discuss their experiences of renovation programmes on the second day.
The scope of the workshop as agreed with BIGGA is shown below:
- understanding the basic principles of design
- appreciating the need to have a safely designed set of holes
- programming and budgeting the programme
- the whys, hows and wherefores of renovating a course
- concentrating on greens, tees and particularly bunkers
- putting those principles onto practice
“On the Tuesday,” Howard continues, “we will be delivering education and training for GTC (we are QA trainers for the organisation) in the form of two half day workshops, supported and sponsored by England Golf and BIGGA: one on safety, one on bunkering. They are designed to be employer focused sessions in which Golf Club officers, management staff and greenkeepers will participate.”
