Ealing Golf Club has become one of the first UK golf clubs to optimise its website for the smartphone revolution, putting the club at the forefront of a trend that is already well-advanced in the USA.

Already a customer of CLUB View, the market leading club website developer, Ealing GC checked their Google analytics and saw that more than 30% of the viewings of their standard website were already being made via smartphones. The subsequent optimising of their website for smartphones has already resulted in the club seeing a measurable increase in mobile-based viewings.

Promising initial results, green fees and memberships up

Ealing GC is very pleased with the results, as Chris Baker, one of the club’s Directors, explains, “In terms of post-installation results, it’s early days but during May, the first full month Ealing GC’s mobile site has been in operation, site visits by mobile are up over 44% year on year (May 2012-2013), with overall viewings figures more closely reflecting the profiles of online viewing seen in the broader non-golf marketplace.

“Everyone is mindful of the short term impact of weather, but we’re running well ahead of budget on green fees and we’re also seeing a good flow of new memberships in what we all know is a very challenging environment.”

Chris continues “Mobile technology is rapidly changing consumer and buying behaviour. Ealing’s in good shape, but we want to make sure it stays that way. The world is changing very fast now, and with smartphones becoming commonplace in the golfing community, ensuring a good experience when they visit Ealing GC online is a no-brainer. CLUB View is helping us do that.”
