As well as appealing to golf club owners, operators and suppliers, there will be fantastic networking opportunities over buffet and wine as the UKGCOA’s Corporate Partners will be encouraged to attend.
The meetings will cover topics of current interest to the golf club industry, such as taxation, utilising the PGA Professional, and increasing membership growth and satisfaction.
A series of postal invites will be sent out May, however if you would like to get your name down early please email debbie.goddard@ukgcoa.comto register your attendance to your chosen location.
Although attendance is free, it is imperative that attendees register in advance.
James Cameron, UKGCOA General Manager: “I would love to bring together as many proprietary golf club owners and operators in the UK and feel that the best way to do that is to hold a set of summer-evening meetings. You are hereby invited!
The meetings are free to attend and we hope you can make it along to one of these events in or near your region. This is a good opportunity to let the UKGCOA know what the most important issues are for you and your golf business. I will be there in person, as will members of the UKGCOA board of directors and we would not only like to deliver great content to you, but also hear from you.
Each Regional Meeting is an evening event starting at 17:00 within a one hour networking buffet. Presentations will begin at 18:00 and will include ‘an introduction to the UKGCOA’, a discussion on taxation and we will also be joined by speakers to cover a broad range of issues we feel affects your business. There will be plenty of time allocated to questions and contributions from golf course owners/operators, so come along and have your questions ready!
Although we are kicking off with a seminar plan that involves a discussion on Taxation, involvement from the PGA and content on flexible memberships, we are endeavouring to rotate the content, and shuffle the pack as it were. Please keep tabs on our website, newsletter and social media pages. That is where we will announce any changes to the line-ups. It is worth mentioning that attendees are very welcome to attend multiple seminars in different regions.”
Why You Should Attend
“The series of Regional Meetings are a great way for our existing members to come together with like-minded golf course owners/operators throughout the UK who aren’t already members,” said the UKGCOA Chairman, Colin Mayes.
“These evening seminars will deliver some tremendous content for GCO’s, in a relaxed setting and we are sure the events will further demonstrate that UKGCOA is right at the heart of the industry and can help you grow, and crucially, understand the challenges your golf business faces.”
Who’s Supporting the Regional Meetings?
The PGA will be attending to grow the awareness and understanding on how the PGA professional is best used to grow revenue generated by golfing products and services.
David Colclough, PhD, Head of Member Education at the Professional Golfers Association (PGA) said: “We are very pleased to have been asked to deliver a seminar at these events. The UKGCOA really do embrace the commercial challenges faced by operators and will undoubtedly lay on a number of diverse and relevant topics. These will definitely benefit all those in attendance who are connected to the industry.
“From our point of view, we are excited that our recently appointed PGA Business Relationship Officers have been asked to deliver a session on ‘Promoting the role of the PGA Professional in the Business of Golf’ and I’m sure this content will help GCO’s (Golf Course Owners & Operators) maximise the knowledge & skills of the PGA Professionals who work at their facilities.”
