French golf holidays ‘summer sale’

12.05am 1st June 2001 - Travel

The skiers have departed and the last snows retreated up the mountains but sport in the Rhone-Alpes of France never stops. The Alpine golf courses have stunning views and the ball flies further in the high altitudes. French Golf Holidays has a “summer sale” of four and seven night stays, excellent value for fly-drive packages.

At Aix-les-Bains in the splendid Astoria Hotel, play on three courses and stay for four nights at £485 – more golf for seven nights at £615.

The Hotel du Golf at Correncon en Vercours is a typical Alpine chalet. A similar arrangement as above costs £510 for four nights, £665 for seven.

Napoleon III built Le Grand Hotel at Uriages, near Grenoble, and the same golf package here costs £530 for four nights and £699 for seven.

These packages include BA London-Lyon flights, a hire car for two, personal insurance, and are based on shared twin rooms. It’s a b& b arrangement with dinner on one night

for the shorter stay and two nights for those staying for a week.
