Golf club members across Scotland are again being given the opportunity to play three of the country’s Open Championship venues this winter at SGU preferential green fee rates, with all proceeds going towards junior golf.
The Honourable Company of Edinburgh Golfers have generously donated 40 tee-times at Muirfield between November and next March, providing golfers with the chance to experience the host venue for next year’s Open Championship just a few months ahead of the event itself.
Two of Ayrshire’s most famous links, Royal Troon, who welcome the world’s finest golfers again for the 2016 Open, and Prestwick, home of the first ever Open Championship back in 1860, are also providing 32 winter tee-times, exclusively available to members of Scottish Golf Union affiliated golf club members.
Each tee-time is available to purchase at the preferential rate of £280 per four-ball, thereby offering significant savings.
Proceeds from sales of the exclusive tee-times will be invested in junior golf initiatives such as the Scottish Golf Academy, helping to nurture the next generation of the country’s best young golfers.
Hamish Grey, Chief Executive of the Scottish Golf Union, welcomed the continued support from all three clubs: “We are delighted to be extending our partnership with The Honourable Company of Edinburgh Golfers, Royal Troon andPrestwick, who have all been hugely supportive of junior golf through the provision of tee-times for golf club members.
“The funding generated through the sales has made a great contribution to developing young golfers, with more than £100,000 of funding being donated over the past decade. Having the opportunity to play such fantastic courses provides a great benefit to being a member of a golf club in Scotland, which can be used as an incentive by our clubs when looking to attract new customers and retain their existing members.
“With The Open Championship being hosted at Muirfield next July, this winter will give golfers an insight into what the world’s top players will experience, while Royal Troon and Prestwick are both superb venues steeped in history, offering a wonderful day out for golfers at all levels.”
Dates are available from Thursday 1 November through to Tuesday 2 April subject to availability when booking and tee-times will be sold on a first come, first served basis. To be eligible for these exclusive offers, each golfer in the four-ball must be a member of an SGU affiliated golf club.
Bookings can only be made via the Scottish Golf Union by calling Janette Dewar on 01334 466474, with full terms and conditions available on the SGU website at www.scottishgolf.org. Tee-times are limited to Tuesdays and Thursdays at Muirfield (9.30am), Mondays at Prestwick (12.00pm) and Tuesdays at Royal Troon (10.00am).
