Bobby Jones boost for PGA

8.42am 30th July 2008 - Sponsorship & Events

One of the best-know brand names in golf has signed up as an associate sponsor of the £300,000 De Vere Collection PGA Seniors Championship at Slaley Hall.

Bobby Jones Europe has agreed to support the longest-running European Seniors Tour event, which makes its debut at the luxurious Northumberland resort 21-24th August over the magnificent Dave Thomas-designed Hunting Course.

The Preston-based company is part of Woodford Global PLC, a fast-growing, dynamic company with a diverse portfolio of brands from the sports, lifestyle and leisure industries. Since taking over the Bobby Jones Europe operations across Europe and South Africa, it has established a growing reputation for its innovative range of high quality apparel and equipment, synonymous with the greatest amateur golfer of all time.

On the course, Bobby Jones Europe has established itself as a committed supporter of European golf, reflected in its recent sponsorship of the Ladies Scottish Open held at the Carrick at De Vere Deluxe’s Cameron House hotel and its involvement at Slaley Hall.

PGA sponsorship manager Jim Croxton welcomed their sponsorship and believes it will help cement the event’s standing as one of the European Seniors Tour’s flagship tournaments.

“The PGA Seniors Championship is one of the most prestigious in European golf and the announcement of Bobby Jones Europe as an associate sponsor enhances that reputation,” he said. “The tournament attracts the very best players like Sam Torrance, Costantino Rocca and Carl Mason, and as a brand, Bobby Jones Europe fits into the very highest category.”
