Neen Kelly and Susan Grant will lead the drive to implement a new Strategy for Golf Tourism, announced in July by the Minister for Enterprise and Lifelong Learning, Henry McLeish; and Scotland’s top golfer, Colin Montgomerie.
Susan Grant is the Golf Tourism Development Manager, a post jointly funded by the Scottish Tourist Board, Scottish Enterprise and Highlands and Islands Enterprise. She said: “It is really exciting to take up the challenge of developing Scotland’s welcome for visiting golfers. My job will be to help the golf clubs and organisations with an interest in the game implement our new strategy, by improving our approach to development, training and marketing.”
Neen Kelly has been appointed Golf Marketing Manager for the Scottish Tourist Board. She said: “My task will be to develop STB’s marketing of our most important niche product. No other country can claim to be the Home of Golf and in that respect alone our assets are world class. At STB, we will be developing the visibility of Scotland as a destination for visiting golfers at events, exhibitions and promotions in selected markets around the world. It is a tremendously exciting time to be involved, with Scotland’s Ryder Cup bid for 2009 adding momentum and focus to our efforts.”
