The PGAs of Europe’s Annual Congress at the Tivoli Victoria Hotel, Vilamoura, will take place on November 26-29 in a repeat of the widely-acclaimed inaugural staging there in 2010 and featuring presentations of worldwide importance in a Professional Golf Forum supported by the European Tour in association with the European Golf Association.
Again, under the agreement with the sponsors Glenmuir, Associação Turismo do Algarve and the Ryder Cup European Development Trust the Congress and Awards Dinner will take place it the hotel’s luxurious conference and banqueting facilities while the 72-hole International Team Championship will be at nearby Vale do Lobo.
Delegates will be provided with the usual full agenda of meaningful presentations and opportunities to debate burning issues – either in the conference hall or while networking outside – but it will not be all work: the President’s Challenge golf match with the Chairman’s team will be staged this year, most conveniently, at the neighbouring Oceanico Victoria course.
The agenda is currently being formed for the Congress to feature a return of the Professional Golf Forum that debated issues of global significance to golf at all levels in Murcia two years ago featuring representatives of the European Tour, The European Golf Association The R&A and The PGAs of Europe.
This year the speakers will include Antony Scanlon from the International Golf Federation on the progress being made towards golf’s ground breaking re-appearance in the Olympic Games, and Duncan Weir from The R&A on the topic of Golf Development worldwide.
Many more presentations of matching calibre and interest are planned in order to reflect the growing status of the sport worldwide and to emphasise the ever-stronger links between the four bodies whose activities spread collectively throughout golf at all levels.
