Ransomes Jacobsen’s annual group visit to the Golf Industry Show continues to grow and this year saw a party of almost 200 people visit the event in Atlanta, Georgia.
The guests, mainly from the golf industry but also including a small contingent of contractors and municipal clients plus, for the first time, a group of journalists, arrived in Atlanta and were greeted by Dan Wilkinson, the president of Jacobsen.
With a territory encompassing Iceland to India, the Ransomes Jacobsen guests represented almost every country across this region. They had the opportunity to spend one and a half days at the magnificent Georgia World Congress Center and were able to visit the huge stand where Jacobsen were celebrating their 85th anniversary.
The Saturday afternoon of the visit was devoted to a session of Product Focus Groups, where all guests were able to give their views on some of the exciting new developments that are planned by Jacobsen.
Sunday was a free day for the majority of the party who were travelling on to Charlotte in North Carolina the following day to visit the Jacobsen manufacturing facility. Many took the opportunity to visit local theme parks, shopping malls and other attractions in and around Atlanta, while some participated in a golf day at Flat Creek Golf Club in unseasonable sub-zero temperatures!
Neil Orton, course manager at Brandon Wood Golf Club commented, “The whole visit was a fantastic experience. Having never flown before, every stage of the journey was a new experience for me. The hotel, the show, the tour of Jacobsen were all excellent; I enjoyed the focus groups, having the opportunity to listen to the comments of other greenkeepers from clubs far and wide, rich and poor, was very interesting. Most impressive of all was the organisation of the whole trip, if there was a hitch or a problem logistically during the trip I certainly did not see it.”
“This trip just gets better and better”, said David Withers, Ransomes Jacobsen’s managing director who hosted the visit. “This is our fifth visit on this scale and it certainly helps cement relationships between our customers, prospective customers and our organisation. From beginning to end it was a fun experience for everyone and the feedback from our guests has been superb! Neil Orton’s comments sum up the many letters I’ve received since our return.”
