Golf Club secretaries to discuss Golf Club Management – 2000 and Beyond

6.05pm 25th April 2000 - Exhibitions & Conferences

There are only a few places left for this important conference about the management of amateur golf which will take place at the University of St Andrews from 7th to 9th June.

Organised by the Association of Golf Club Secretaries the conference, which is entitled “Golf Club Management – 2000 and Beyond” will compare how golf is run across the world. Speakers are coming from the United States and Canada, France, Portugal, Australia and Great Britain. Among the presentations will be glimpses of how the game may develop in the new century, the centralised handicapping systems being introduced in Australia and Portugal, the use of the internet for data communications, and the importance of the media in promoting the game.

The needs of the club manager will be addressed by papers on amateur status, the law as it applies to clubs and on the golf course. The conference is being organised by the Association of Golf Club Secretaries and will be chaired by Ronald Jamieson, captain of the Scottish Region of the AGCS.
