As the five-star business and leisure resort in South Wales was still hosting the Ryder Cup, Celtic Manor was awarded another big prize at a glittering awards ceremony in London.

The 400-bedroom resort with state-of-the-art convention centre was voted Top UK Conference Hotel in the Hot List for Conference & Incentive Travel magazine. It is the fourth year running that Celtic Manor has topped the reader poll in the industry leading publication and the fifth time in six years that it has picked up the coveted accolade.

Well-connected on the M4 motorway only two hours from London, the five-star resort beat off some strong competition from top hotels in and around the capital city to claim the award. The Hilton Metropole was second and the Sofitel at Terminal 5 was third.

Its two hotels with 400 bedrooms – offering both a four and a five-star option – its three championship golf courses and its flexible event space, were identified as key factors in Celtic Manor’s latest success.

Celtic Manor Convention Centre Manager Nancy Mollett said: “We are delighted to have won this prestigious award for the fourth year running. It is particularly satisfying that this accolade comes from the readers of Conference & Incentive Travel. In effect, this is a ringing endorsement from our clients, including the executives who plan and arrange conventions for some of the biggest blue chip companies.

“At a time when we have been in the world’s spotlights as host venue for The 2010 Ryder Cup, it is reassuring to know that we have continued to exceed the expectations of our conference clients. Either side of The Ryder Cup, we have had our busiest ever months for conference bookings in September, October and November.”

The Resort’s Convention Centre – one of the largest hotel facilities of its kind in Europe – houses the Caernarfon Suite which can seat 1,500 delegates for a keynote address or 900 dining guests for a gala dinner. An additional 31 syndicate and meeting rooms with break-out areas can cater for every event from a small meeting around a table to large presentations for hundreds of people.
