Pre-registration for The Golf Show approaching 1,000

9.47am 24th September 2010 - Exhibitions & Conferences

PGA Professionals are registering for next month’s The Golf Show 2010 in their droves with more than 800 delegates now pre registered.

The Golf Show, which will take place at the Harrogate International Centre, October 26-28, has seen an explosion in registrations over the past few weeks as PGA members snap up the opportunity to be part of the inaugural event.

Show organisers are expecting those numbers to increase further in the build up to the event, which is open to all PGA members across Europe.

With so many pros attending and with so much to see at the show including the latest products from golf’s leading suppliers, educational seminars, Question Time events and Speakers’ Corner style presentations, planning the visit prior to arrival is extremely important.

David Colclough, PGA Head of Member Education and Advanced Fellow Professional, has some pointers for those looking to make the most of their time at the three-day event.

He said: “An expert coach would undertake regular analysis of a player’s strengths and weaknesses before planning a lesson. This is also true in business, where a businessman would constantly review the performance of his business and address any areas of weakness.

“In the same vein, it is advisable to engage in a degree of reflection of your current skills and future development. With such a varied array of educational opportunities being offered at The Golf Show, now is a good time to analyse your learning needs in order to maximise the effect of what you can learn from the experts conducting seminars and presentations at Harrogate.”

PGA professionals attending The Golf Show can amass a vast amount of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) points and have the opportunity to shape the educational part of the event by choosing the seminars and speakers who they feel will benefit their needs most.

Once registered through the website – www.golftradeshow.co.uk – delegates will receive a list of seminar titles and expert speakers. They then rank the three seminars they would be most interested in seeing, with those speakers and seminars that receive the most votes forming the educational part of The Golf Show.

David Colclough added: “There is a process which can help delegates develop a more strategic approach to lifelong learning and to identify the right seminars for them at The Golf Show. First, establish what skills and attributes you currently possess; secondly, establish what you wish to achieve in the future; once you’ve identified some key outcomes ask yourself how you will achieve them; identify seminars that will benefit you at The Golf Show; finally, ask yourself how you will judge what you have learnt.”

More than 50 leading companies in the golf industry will be exhibiting at The Golf Show, enabling pros to sample the latest equipment and services as well as conducting the forward buying face-to-face.

As well as seminars there will also be a number of short 30-minute presentations from leading figures in the golf industry in the style of ‘Speakers’ Corner.’

Delegates will also have the opportunity to quiz the industry’s leading lights on coaching and retail in two special Question Time events to be held after the show has closed on the Tuesday and Wednesday nights.

Leading coaches such as Scott Cranfield and Neil Plimmer will sit on the coaching panel, while experts such as TGI Golf Managing Director, Eddie Reid, Foremost CEO, Paul Hedges and successful retailer and PGA professional, Nicky Lumb, will sit on the retail panel.

PGA professionals wishing to put questions to the five-person panels can do so by visiting www.golftradeshow.co.uk and clicking on the ‘Ask the Experts’ section.
