Improving the quality and establishment of seed sown for turf production will be the focus for a Turfgrass Growers Association (TGA) educational symposium run at the National Turfgrass Foundation (NTF) Conference, which starts on Monday 29th November in Southport.
The TGA symposium will run alongside the main NTF conference programme on the afternoon of 29th November and involves three presentations and a panel discussion session on seed quality control.
Speakers include Dr Danny Thorogood from IGER on the evolution of a new turfgrass variety, as well as John Hacker of PSD on the biotic and abiotic issues relating to turfgrass establishment. The panel discussion will involve Simon Taylor from British Seed Houses – one of the Conference’s major sponsors – who will highlight current seed quality assurance issues.
The annual NTF Conference runs from 29th November 2004 to 2nd December 2004 and will be held at the Southport Theatre and Floral hall Complex, Southport. Themed ‘In Pursuit of Excellence‘, the Conference offers a full programme of papers plus a new feature for 2004 – the Turfgrass Education Emporium – where visitors will have the opportunity to delve more deeply into turfgrass educational topics.
