The British Institute of Golf Course Architects, representing some 65 designers throughout Europe, has announced the formation of The BIGCA Foundation.
The Foundation has been designed to attract funding from the golf and golf turf industry to allow educational programmes and initiatives to be set up. Codes of practice and guidelines will be published to assist golf clubs and those involved in golf course development to know more about health and safety issues, rootzones, irrigation and water sourcing and good environmental practice in golf course design.
A limited number of Gold, Silver and Bronze donors are being sought with donations from £1,000 per year to £5,000 per year. If well supported The Foundation will itself look to placing funds into research related to golf course architecture.
