Marketing & Sponsorship Director for LGU

10.17am 12th August 2010 - People

Gillian Hayes

The Ladies’ Golf Union has announced that Gillian Hayes will join the Board with immediate effect in the voluntary role of Marketing and Sponsorship Director.

This new role arose out of the recent modernisation of the LGU and is aimed at supporting the organisation’s confirmed objective of becoming self-financing over the course of the next few years.

Gill brings a wealth of commercial experience to her new position. As the founder and owner of a women’s golf clothing business, and the lead in the international brand marketing department of a pharmaceutical company, her professional life is varied and diverse, and she has translated this success into securing sponsorship for some of the UK’s professional lady golfers.

A member of Sale Golf Club in Cheshire, Gill is passionate about the game she first played at Stevenage Golf Club in 1998, and is committed to using her skills and experience to promote and encourage ladies’ golf at all levels.

Gill says “I am delighted to be given the opportunity to serve on the LGU Board. The organisation has clearly made significant progress in the last two years and operates in a professional and business-like manner. The quality of its championships and the delivery of its events are second to none, and I firmly believe that the LGU can further develop its worth as a brand, capitalising on its many assets. I look forward to making a real contribution to that brand development in the coming years”.
