New Course completes hotel’s £11.4m redevelopment

1.57pm 24th March 1999 - Course Development

The new 18 hole course at The Marriott Hollins Hall Hotel & Country Club at Baildon in Yorkshire is due to open on 1st May. The Course has been designed by European Golf Design and constructed by Southern Golf. The first nine holes take in the higher land to the north of the hotel and offer spectacular views over Baildon Moor. The back nine are more undulating. The 14th hole has a working Victorian railway viaduct as a backdrop. Although construction work involved the relocation of thousands of tons of earth, dry stone walls and mature trees have been retained. The result is a new course which Ryder Cup Captain, Mark James, has described as the best new course he has seen in a long time.

Hollins Hall will become the 15th golf course operated in Britain as part of a Marriott hotel and country club. Members at Hollins Hall will also be entitled to play any other Marriott course.
