The WaterWorks Golf Centre, an 18 hole par three course located next to the stunning WaterWorks Nature Reserve in East London, has been nationally recognised by the English Golf Union, (EGU) English Women’s Golf Association (EWGA) and England Golf as a junior and beginner friendly facility.
RangeMark recognises the fundamental role golf ranges play in introducing adults and juniors to golf and providing a positive starting point for the game.
The WaterWorks Golf Centre is suitable for both beginners and those who wish to practice their short game and as a starter Centre for golf, is developing strong links for developing golfers at the 18-hole Lee Valley Golf Course in Leyton.
The WaterWorks Nature Reserve was once used for water purification but today forms a unique wildlife haven containing one of the largest bird hides in London. On site over 322 species of plants, 25 species of breeding birds and a quarter of all British butterflies have been recorded. This creates a stunning backdrop to the Golf Centre, with many nationally important birds flying directly over the course.
RangeMark Regional Development Officer, Steven Peet said: “I am delighted to be able to award the WaterWorks Golf Centre with the prestigious EGU/ EWGA RangeMark accreditation. The Centre provides opportunities for anyone to experience playing golf and be introduced to the game in an informal, fun and safe environment.”
The WaterWorks Golf Centre also delivers Tri and Extreme Golf to schools throughout the region.
