TaylorMade Golf, maker of the No. 1 drivers and irons on the EPGA TOUR, has introduced three new women’s clubs – the R580W driver, R580W fairway woods and Women’s Rescue Mid.
TaylorMade’s R580W driver is engineered for avid women golfers that generate a swing speed of up to 80 miles per hour. Features include:
- Large, 350cc titanium clubhead, equalling increased horizontal and vertical head size, providing greater confidence at address, expanded sweetspot and increased forgiveness.
- Inverted Cone Technology (same as in the R500 Series drivers) that creates an expanded COR zone, resulting in consistently longer drives.
Low, deep centre of gravity, which makes it easier to get the ball in the air, launch the ball high, and which generates more spin for longer carry. The combined result is greater distance. - Tuned Weight Cartridge (same as in the R500 Series drivers) that produces enhanced balance and feel with any shaft.
- Crown lines, making it easy aim, promoting increased accuracy and confidence.
- M.A.S.2 50 shaft, which is exceptionally lightweight (50 grams) to encourage a faster swing speed for greater distance, and which features a soft flex and soft tip to help launch the ball higher and longer.
- Available in 12° loft / 44″ length.
- Manufacturer’s recommended retail price (RRP) is £349/ €499 and it will be available in retail from 15th December 2003.
Like the R580W driver, the R580W fairway woods are also engineered for avid players that generate a swing speed of up to 80 miles per hour. In addition, the clubhead and shaft of the R580W fairway woods are designed to work in collaboration to produce both high launch angle and high spin, resulting in high trajectory, long carry and maximum distance. Additional features include:
- Titanium construction and Pull-Face construction technology that permit thin-yet-strong clubhead walls for increased size and superior swing weighting.
- Exceptionally high MOI and COR, resulting in an excellent combination of distance and forgiveness.
- Tuned Weight Cartridge (same as in the R500 Series drivers) that produces enhanced balance and feel with any shaft.
- Broad, sleek sole that encourages clean, powerful contact from a wide variety of lies.
- M.A.S.2 50 shaft, which is exceptionally lightweight (50 grams) to encourage a faster swing speed for greater distance, and which features a soft flex and soft tip to help launch the ball higher and longer.
- Available in 3-wood with 15° loft/42″ length; 5-wood with 18° loft/41.5″ length; 7-wood with 21° loft and 41″ length.
- RRP for an R580W fairway wood is £299/€399 per club and the club will available to retail 15th December 2003.
Because long irons are hard to hit, TaylorMade created the Rescue Mid, a breakthrough utility club designed to be far easier to use than a long iron while delivering greater distance. As opposed to the low, hard-to-stop trajectory of the average long iron, the Rescue Mid is designed to combine high launch with high spin, producing a high trajectory, long carry and maximum stopping power. Additional features include:
- Pull-Face construction, wherein the 450-steel clubhead is created separately from the 455-steel clubface, allowing for a stronger, stress-resistant head with improved perimeter weighting and a thinner, faster clubface that delivers a high level of COR.
- Lower, deeper centre of gravity than the average long iron, making the Women’s Rescue Mid easier to get off the ground.
- Higher moment of inertia than the average long iron, making the Women’s Rescue Mid far easier to hit and delivering improved performance on off-centre hits.
- M.A.S.2 50 shaft, which is exceptionally lightweight (50 grams) to encourage a faster swing speed for greater distance, and which features a soft flex and soft tip to help launch the ball higher and longer.
- Available in 19° loft/38.5″ length; 22° loft/38″ length; and 25° loft/37.5″ length.
- RRP for a Women’s Rescue Mid is £139/ €199 per club and they are available from October 2003.
