James Holmes Steps Up To New Role At Skycaddie

One of the leading figures in the field of golf distance measurement has assumed a wider role at the heart of SkyCaddie, one of the sport’s most-trusted and most-recognised brands.

With immediate effect, James Holmes steps up to become Director of Sales and Operations EMEA for SkyHawke Technologies, the company which pioneered the DMD category over 20 years ago with golf’s first GPS handset and which more recently brought indoor golf to the masses with the SkyTrak launch monitor.

Holmes, 44, assumes overall responsibility for all EMEA Operations and sales, based out of the firm’s European HQ in Buckinghamshire, where he and his team manage SkyCaddie’s EMEA business including one of the golf industry’s most highly-rated customer support teams.

Before joining the company full-time in 2008 Holmes mapped over 200 courses on foot in the UK for SkyCaddie, while also playing tournament golf on the European Tour, Challenge Tour, Sunshine Tour and Europro Tour.

Holmes’s tournament playing experience made him ideally suited to lead SkyCaddie’s rapid recent expansion into the world of professional tour golf, where over 70% of the field in Legends Tour events now regularly trust SkyCaddie GPS for their yardages during tournament play.

Holmes also plays a central role in SkyCaddie’s worldwide new product development and testing process, with the current SkyCaddie SX550 handheld hailed as the most advanced GPS in the sport’s history.

PGA Partner SkyCaddie’s GPS devices are recognised as setting the accuracy benchmark in golf as its mapping team creates and updates golf course maps by surveying each course on foot.

“SkyCaddie has been raising the standards for accuracy and quality in golf DMDs for over two decades, and I am proud to have been with the company on its journey for the majority of that time” said Holmes.

“People look for SkyCaddie to keep innovating in the field of distance measurement, and in the use of technology to improve performance and enjoyment levels” he said.

“I can promise that what SkyCaddie has in store for golfers over the next few years will not disappoint!”
