Huxley Golf joined forces with the Stephen Gallacher Foundation in the creation of a new junior training facility at Kingsfield Golf and Leisure, just outside of Edinburgh.
The Stephen Gallacher Foundation is a registered charity which aims to encourage junior golfers in Scotland to live a healthy life and enjoy their golf. From those just starting, through to others with a little more experience,
Stephen and his team have developed an excellent pathway for children to benefit from lessons with PGA qualified coaches and progress through to an extensive year-round programme of events. In doing so, the Foundation hopes to play its part in combating the diminishing numbers of Scottish golfers.
The focal point of the facility is an innovative putting green which has been created by Huxley Golf to exacting specifications. The 15ft (4.5m) x 16ft (5m) green has four practice holes and is contoured to specific gradients to encourage the ball to move in particular ways. Combined with the latest putt projection technology, the green provides an exciting learning environment to engage juniors. Huxley Golf also provided flooring for two high specification simulator bays.
Hugh Fraser, Scotland & North East England Area Manager for Huxley Golf, said: “This was a fantastic project to work on. We used our best-in-class Premier Indoor Putting Green Turf with a Premier 35mm Fringe surround to deliver a robust yet realistic surface to bring the game to life for young players. Stephen has been a pleasure to work with again and we look forward to seeing this new development prosper and the young players who use it, thrive.”
European Tour Professional Stephen Gallacher has long been a fan of Huxley Golf having used the company’s products for over ten years. He commented on the new installation: “This is a really exciting initiative for us and we’re grateful to all parties for helping us realise our vision. My hope is that hundreds of junior players will benefit from this wonderful new centre at Kingsfield Golf for many years to come.”
