The English Golf Union and English Ladies’ Golf Association have confirmed that the highly successful Free Golf Coaching for Beginners initiative is to continue for a fourth year, with some interesting developments.
The 2003 campaign has an increased number of venues throughout England providing even more coaching sessions between April and October at affiliated clubs and stand-alone ranges. This year’s campaign will also extend into various non-golfing facilities in an attempt to reach out into local communities. Free golf coaching with the support of Swingtech will be driving into city centres during the summer months.
Any beginner regardless of age, gender or background who wishes to experience golf for the first time can register at a venue and receive one-hour of free golf coaching (golf balls and clubs will be provided) or simply turn up at the city centre locations.
Following their coaching session all participants will be given information on a variety of initiatives aimed at continuing their involvement in golf, from regular participation to obtaining an official handicap and ultimately joining a golf club.
A full list of participating venues appears at www.englishgolfunion.org click on ‘Get into Golf’, ‘Initiatives’ and ‘Taster Sessions’ or telephone 01526 354500. Details will also be published in local and national press between April and October.
Free Golf Coaching for Beginners is just one of several initiatives within the ‘Get into Golf’ structure developed by the EGU and ELGA. For further information on free golf coaching or any of the ‘Get into Golf’ initiatives please contact:
