Rory McIlroy won his 20th PGA TOUR event at The CJ Cup with a full bag of TaylorMade equipment, including a SIM2 driver and the TP5x golf ball.
The 32-year-old Northern Irishman outran a crowded leaderboard highlighted by a 35-foot eagle putt from off the green on the 14th hole on Sunday to win by one stroke from Collin Morikawa with a 25-under-par total.
With a Spider X putter in hand, McIlroy led the field in ‘strokes gained’ for putting. This is the first time he has led this performance category for the entire tournament since winning at Bay Hill in 2018.
In taking the title, McIlroy became the seventh golfer to earn 20 PGA tour wins before turning 33, joining Arnold Palmer, Billy Casper, Jack Nicklaus, Tom Watson, Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson.
The win moved McIlroy up from 14th to eighth in the world rankings and guarantees him lifetime membership of the PGA Tour.
