Le Touquet sees upturn in breaks bookings from UK

11.30am 30th July 2020 - Travel

Le Touquet Golf Resort in France has seen an increase in interest as tourists from the UK and northern Europe look to hit the road for a golf break.
Le Touquet’s enviable location on the north coast of France, less than an hour’s drive from Calais, makes it a convenient self-drive destination from the UK, Belgium, the Netherlands and north-west Germany, as well as France.
Graham Hesketh, UK representative for Le Touquet Golf Resort & Golf d’Hardelot, said: “There has been a definite shift towards driveable golf destinations in the last few weeks. With so much uncertainty surrounding air travel, people are preferring to book somewhere they can drive to in a few hours.
“For a golfer, nothing is easier than being able to throw your clubs in the boot and take a road trip somewhere with a great selection of courses, as Le Touquet Golf Resort has. It’s the easiest way to take a golf break at the moment and I see that continuing for a good while yet.”
Awaiting at the end of a straightforward journey along the A16 motorway are the 45 magnificent holes of Le Touquet Golf Resort, (including La Mer, the No.1 links course in France), surrounded by sand dunes, sweeping beaches and pine forests.
Just a few minutes from Le Touquet town centre, the resort is home to the chic Le Manoir Hôtel – recently renovated in a boutique style – and its outdoor swimming pool, tennis court and stylish bar and restaurant.
Half an hour up the road is its sister venue, Golf d’Hardelot, which boasts two more award-winning courses, Les Dunes and Les Pins, ranked No. 39 in Golf World’s Top 100 Courses in Continental Europe.
British visitors will benefit from a fully open Channel Tunnel, which reported record high online bookings at the end of June. The ferry terminals of Calais (50 miles / 80 km) and Dieppe (70 miles / 112km) also provide easy cross-Channel access from England.
