Hurtmore pro earns PGA Fellow status

Teaching Professional Kat Chaszczewski has been awarded Fellow designation by the Professional Golfers’ Association.

The Surrey-based pro has continued to invest in her professional development and is now one of the highest status golf coaches in the county.

Chaszczewski, who joined Hurtmore Golf Club in Godalming earlier this year as head professional, was recently awarded the Fellow qualification through the Accreditation of Professional Achievement and Learning programme.

To achieve Fellow status, the qualified professional must have been a member of the PGA for a minimum of eight years and consistently demonstrate an ability to work at a very high level, while contributing to the development of players at different levels.

Chaszczewski first tried golf aged 11, but began playing regularly in her late 20s, where she gained her first handicap at Hurtmore. She turned professional in 2008 and started the three-year Foundation Degree while working at Mid Sussex Golf Club before moving on to coach full time at Cranfield Golf Academy in Rustington in her third year as a trainee.

Chaszczewski is a Sussex County Academy Coach for the U14 girls squad and a development coach for the U18 Boys. She has also worked with some of England’s best amateur golfers as South East Regional U16 Girls’ Manager and National U18 Girls’ Manager, and has introduced more than 500 new golfers into the game in the last five years.

Commenting on her PGA Fellow Professional status, Chaszczewski said: “I am delighted to have been awarded Fellow of the PGA and to be recognised for my contribution to golf. Since turning professional in 2008, I have continuously aimed to improve my knowledge and the quality of service I offer. I’m pleased to have worked with some fine elite young players and feel very lucky to be able to make my living involved in a sport I love.”
