Ed Plunket, Secretary of The City of London Club, will moderate the CMAE’s European Conference on Club Management, together with CMAE Director of Education Torbjörn Johansson. The Conference will take place in Cascais (pictured above), Portugal, 17-19 November.
Ed was one of the most appreciated speakers on the CMAE European Conference last year in Marbella, Spain where he talked about the journey of The City of London Club, currently building 20 bedrooms and a new terrace bar within the club. Ed will bring to the Conference his great sense of humour and his experiences of running a major project within the confines of a traditional City Club.
“The theme on this year’s conference is “The Destination” and whilst we have not yet reached ours, I am excited to have the opportunity to bring my own feelings and expectations to the Conference” Ed tells us.
“Moderating is a totally new role for me and I am proud to have been asked and delighted to have accepted. I look forward to sharing my own thoughts on all the presentations during the three days”
The CMAE European Conference on Club Management will have a range of topics during the three days in the beautiful town of Cascais, Portugal. Last year, managers from 22 countries gathered for both all the education sessions, but of course also the networking.
This appointment is part of our strategy where we want to strengthen managers in all aspects, DoE Torbjörn “Toby” Johansson comments. “Ed is one of the strong characters that we have the opportunity to work with. His humour and presence did not go unnoticed last year and we are happy to have secured him for a bigger role this year.”
CMAE will also have their AGM during the conference and Vice President James Burns CCM from Milltown Golf Club in Ireland is set for the presidency for the next two years. David Balden CCM, secretary at the Caledonian Club in London will take the seat as Vice President.
