Scottish Golf Show proves a ‘swinging success’

10.17am 26th April 2019 - Exhibitions & Conferences

The organisers of this year’s Scottish Golf Show have described its 14th renewal as a ‘swinging success’, after the three-day event attracted 17,000 golfers to the SEC in Glasgow.

This year’s show boasted a new layout, with new challenges, improved interactive features, and the show’s first ever Affordable Golf superstore. In its first year as the show’s official retail partner, Affordable Golf offered a high quality shopping experience where customers could buy the latest gear and equipment from many of the top brands, including TaylorMade, Callaway, Ping, Wilson, PXG and more.

Mark Taylor, managing director of Affordable Golf, said: “We were delighted to be the official retail partner of the Scottish Golf Show for the first time this year. It was an excellent three days – the hall was constantly busy and this gave us the opportunity to showcase our brands in front of thousands of Scotland’s most knowledgeable golfers, resulting in exceptionally strong retail sales across the weekend.”

As well as trying out the latest equipment at the show’s indoor driving range, visitors could take advantage of free lessons with PGA professionals and take part in over 20 interactive challenges.  New features like the first-ever Argyll Holidays’ Target Golf game proved extremely popular, while the Ladbrokes’ Golf Darts Challenge and custom-made bunker challenge also attracted sizeable crowds.

Julia Girvan, events manager for show organisers PSP Media Group, said: “Each year we aim to come back bigger and better than ever before, and this was certainly the case for 2019.  With massive numbers of tickets sold before the event, we knew the weekend was going to be full of fun and entertainment and, judging by the reaction of the visitors and exhibitors – some of whom travelled from all over the world to be here – this was definitely the case.”

She added: “With every successful event that we deliver, we also learn a great deal about how we can grow and develop for future years. We’ve listened to lots of customer feedback and we’re already working on ideas for our 15th anniversary show, which really will give our guests another unforgettable experience.
