Golfbidder welcomed as a Partner by the European Disabled Golf Association

1.03pm 4th August 2018 - Corporate

The European Disabled Golf Association (EDGA) is “delighted” to welcome UK firm Golfbidder as a Partner with the organisation that supports golfers with impairment to reach their potential on the fairways and in life. EDGA supports inclusive golf programmes internationally and hosts up to 14 tournaments a year in Europe and as far afield as Australia, bringing together players of varying abilities from all over the world.

Golfbidder, based in South-West London, is a specialist in buying and selling quality used golf clubs and it is expected that the company’s knowledge of logistics will be invaluable, helping to transport EDGA’s tournament materials between international venues.

As a new Partner, Golfbidder has also offered investment support to EDGA, specifically to build awareness of golf for the disabled, and to develop projects and events to help new and established golfers in this area.

EDGA is supported by The R&A, the European Tour, The Ryder Cup Europe Development Trust and 26 national golf federations, plus several valued partners including PING, the Association of Algarve Tourism and now Golfbidder. Registered players compete in ‘Premier’ and ‘Access’ (for a large range of abilities) tournaments, while EDGA is currently working with the International Golf Federation (IGF) as it explores golf’s potential bid to be selected for the Paralympics.

Liam Robb, Managing Director of Golfbidder, said: “We are excited to begin our partnership with EDGA. The work they have done to help individuals with impairment play this wonderful game is inspirational, and we can’t wait to help them build on this in the coming years.”

Mark Taylor, EDGA Vice-President, Development, said: “The EDGA team is delighted to welcome Golfbidder as a Partner. Right from our opening talks, Golfbidder’s team has been highly enthusiastic in wanting to help people with a disability, including those brand new to the game, to enjoy the considerable playing, social and health benefits associated with golf.

“EDGA supports a number of national federations to promote inclusive golf programmes in their regions and we will value Golfbidder’s backing here. EDGA is fortunate to have a strong core of committed Partners who are all keen to make a genuine difference for ‘Golfers First’, the term our golfers use so as not to be labelled by their disability. We all really look forward to working with Golfbidder in the time ahead.”
